Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Police then found many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important official said the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
